When the computer has power on and boot into the Windows or when users launch any program, some of the processes will be loaded and it can be check with the Task Manager with some useful information (CPU Time, Memory Usage and etc). Even users know which program or processes are running by checking with the task manager, but not all processes listed in task manager will be display with the meaningful name. Like when users launch the Trend Micro Anti-Virus, the processes that will be display as “ntrtscan.exe” in task manager. Is difficult for users to know which program or which handles DLLs processes loaded in task manager.
When users copy some file from folder to folder and sometime will encounter and error that some file cannot copy over due to the file used by another process. Process Explorer is a free system monitoring and examination utility and can be used as the first step in debugging software or system problems. Process Explorer is created by Sysinternals purposely use in Microsoft Windows. It not only can use to monitoring and check the processes, users may also use to find which processes is running and what file was used by another processes. On the above scenario, users can use Process Explorer to find on what processes is using the file that cause that the file cannot copy over. Therefore, users can just kill or stop the processes so that the file can copy over.
