How To Get Know What Popular Keyword For Certain Product
Alright, here is my keywordspy review. I’m not sure how many people have try KeywordSpy before but it’s definitely a handy tool to find out what are the keywords your competitors are bidding on.
Here are few easy steps on how I use Keywordspy to find out profitable keywords in Clickbank.
- I’ll type in the clickbank product ID (e.g. burnthefat) and click on the search button.
- As shown the search result (Figure 1), it will show (not all I believe) but most popular sites that are promoting the product. (At this stage, you can try to view all the web sites listed to see how they do presell before leading the visitors to the merchant site.).
- Then I’ll type in the site URL to find out what are the keywords that the site is bidding on (Figure 2).
- Once the results have been generated, keywords will be listed with their ad rank and the number of competitors. You can even export the keywords as txt or csv file. However, the ad rank and the numbers of competitors will not be included in the files. (I hope they can include them in the future because the ad rank might also indicate the bidding strategy. Probably that’s their sweet spot. )
- Of coz you can will the ad they written as well. (Figure 3)
- There is one thing that I forgot to mention earlier. The keywords are not updated. They keywords shown are probably 1 – 2 months back. There are pro and cons here. Since the keywords are already few months back, we can probably guess the keywords are profitable if the site is bidding on them. However, in this case, if the site bids on new keywords, we may need to wait until few months later to find out. (Here’s a tip for you. After you’ve get those keywords, run them through keywords tool that check against good ads, then you will able to know what keywords that the site is still bidding. )
- If you are interested on looking back on what are the keywords that the site had bid on, there is a “time machine†menu available where it will show the number of keywords and the keywords a site bidding on. (Figure 4)
- And if you would like to spy which products that a clickbank affiliate is promoting, you can actually type in the affiliate ID to find out. However, it does not work every time. (Again, there are pro and cons in this case.) It will be good if you affiliate ID is not found by the system, and then you can hide away from the spy. But if you affiliate ID get found, not sure if we can request Keywordspy to exclude our own ID personally. (Figure 7)
I can’t say how much KeywordSpy is better than other keywords tool such as wordtracker, wordze , keyword discovery and others keywords tools because I’ve not try them. But KeywordSpy is definitely nice to play with - just as if you are spying the answers from top student sitting next to you in the test.

Love KeywordSpy! especially its affiliate search engine, pretty cool, my ClickBank payout is getting higher.
I’ve talked via their e-mail support and they replied that an “advanced export” feature will be available where other details such as Ad Rank, ad URL etc. will be included in the download, can’t wait to have that “sweet spot” you mentioned.
Hmmmm…. think you’re right that playing with KeywordSpy is like taking a peek at the answers of the best student in class. Hope we’ll also get into the online top rank! *wink*

Keywordspy Scam Alert!
Firstly I do believe the concept to use such a service is great. Finding out what my competitors are doing is really a good idea. Unfortunately the way KeywordSpy go about it just doesn’t cut it for me.
Firstly what made me signup was the fact that I could see all the keywords my competitors were using. This is great in theory, but after I signed up I found that most of the keywords many of my competitors were using were rubbish. It seems that all my competitors were using keywords that were not working for them. After I signed up I found that over 2/3 of the keywords I received from my competitors were useless.
Secondly I decided to signup was to find the keywords with little competition.
Sure they supply these but out of the few that were actually related to my industry, the analysis was way out of date. All the keywords that Keywordspy said only had 1 competitor really had at least four.
And the final reason for never touching Keywordspy, is they recurring charges. As a merchant I feel it is the customer’s choice weather to stay, this does not apply for Keywordspy. I only wanted to test it for the first month, so three weeks later I logged on to cancel my account. THERE IS NOT AUTOMATED WAY TO DO THIS!
Here is the email I received..
Dear xxxxxx,

I have to fax them a copy of a form which is available on their website. The issue with this, it has to be faxed and can take 2-5 working days. Even if I was to fax my application across I would run out of time and be billed for next month. I am unsure of the law on this but shouldn’t the consumer have the right to email KeywordSpy and ask to have their billing authority revoked?
After all this I declined to fax the form and contacted my bank. They told me to send an email to KeywordSpy stating that they no longer have any authority to bill my card. If they bill me again my bank will create an investigation causing a chargeback to Keywordspy,
I am very disappointed with this and believe that the consumer has the right to choose, not to be forced into a silly scheme intended to cost even more.

Same crap happened to me same letter. I told them off and contacted clickbank and I was refunded. I think they don’t deal with clickbank anymore so now they have more control in not handing out refunds or stop payments.
Stay away from Keyword Spy! Huge Scam!
