For security purpose, most of the company will perform some testing on the new patches that publish by Microsoft, before they deploy to their computers in the company. This is to ensure that the patches will not affect any of the internal software in the company. Most of the time, the research and testing will be conduct by a group or member in R&D department. They will test it base on different software and hardware, but sometime is difficult for them to test if they are not enough computers in the department. So, virtual computer is needed for them to perform the test. VirtualBox Open Source Edition is one of the software can use to create virtual computer.

VirtualBox Open Source Edition is software that has been released under the GPL and comes with complete source code. Is actually having the same concept as Microsoft Virtual PC and VMWare, all of them are use to create virtual computer within the Windows. This means that we can run more then one operating system within the same hardware, and is useful for those who want to test with some new software and without affect the Windows or operating system that currently used by the users.

Beside Windows, VirtualBox also can be installing Intel Macs. With this option, now Macs users can use it to create virtual computers.
