Creating a folder and share it to everyone is easy, but when talk about the security is must more difficult because we need to know who can access to that particular share folders. To make it easy, users may just share the folder and allow everyone to access it unless users just need to share for certain user. For those who using Microsoft Windows 2000 and above, users may check on who are accessing the share folder by just enable the local policy on that pc where the folder been shared. But this not a good practice when some one try to hack into the share folder, and the owner of the share folder or administrator will realize only when they check the event log.

But anyway with the share folder monitoring tools (NetShareMonitor) that I found at Novell website, user will get notify if some accessing the share folder in that time. NetShareMonitor is free tools for everyone download and install at the pc or server to monitor in real time and get notify when someone accessing their share folder. This is a great tool and simple to install as users just need to run the .exe file to run the tool and they will be a new icon appear at the right task bar. If someone accessing the share folder, will icon will blinking to notify the owner or the pc administrator that someone is accessing the share folder.
