How To Convert Microsoft Open Office XML Format (.docx)
After Microsoft have released Office 3.x, Office 4.x, Office 95, Office 97 …… and until Office 2003. They totally released 7 version of Office for Windows platform. Now Microsoft have release another new version of Office for Windows platform called Microsoft Office 2007. The new version of Office 2007 is come with lots of new features and new file format called Microsoft Open Office XML Format (.docx). This is the new file format that only available with Office 2007 and not compatible with older version of Microsoft Word, with other operating system or with other word processing application.

Have you tried or seen docx2doc ? It does the same as docx-converter, but with more target formats, including .doc

Within what platforms does this widget operate? I am not having any luck with Windows XP. It would have been nice and responsible if this were explained.

I just bet it was written by or had its development supported by Microsoft for its Mac Line of software, as I note no support for open source platforms.

Why not just download the update from microsoft to make earlier versions of office compatible???

Although Microsoft’s website doesn’t say that Microsoft’s own convertor will work with Word 97, it does! Just download Microsoft’s convertor, install it, double-click a docx document and, hey-presto, it opens in Word 97.
